Hello there, friend!
I’m Carol, aka Lunabug. I’m a writer/researcher, mother, and navigator of all frustrating autoimmune-related things. What you will find here is evidence-based medical articles dotted with personal anecdotes. (And absolutely NO A.I.) I may hold a degree in Anthropology, Biology, and Chemistry, but what really has educated me is real life experience.
I landed in the hospital with a blood clot in my intestines at the age of 23 and I have had constant health issues ever since. The last 16 years have found me studying more published science journals and human biology more than during my school age years.
I met my husband, a homesick-time traveler lutenist who belongs more in the 17th-18th centuries than in modern days, and I thought we were different from each other. Then we had my nature loving, foraging, free-spirited toddler and all bets were off. The mix of the 3 of our interests and personality really shook me. Our family dynamic has created an enveloping sense of togetherness deep-rooted in appreciating nature, science, and art (aside from my sometimes hesitance to frolic outside with my 3 year old).
We make music together, we spend time without screens and listen to nature, and appreciate the magic of science. It’s caused me to slow down and look inward. Her introduction to our lives triggered me to search for answers not only in present day advice, but also in our ancestral roots as humans.
What I offer
The purpose of this site, at heart, is to bring alive the experience of:
- autoimmune life
- co-parenting with nature
- incorporating ancestral advice into my parenting style
- embracing long forgotten historical culture
- diving into science to cope with ever-changing health issues.
There won’t be judgment or wellness fluff here. Just a curious mother who wants to provide science-based truth in easy to understand language.

Aside from medical investigations, anthropological parenting thoughts, and early music culture shenanigans, I also cover topics on financial health, and mental health. If you’d like, you can read the introduction to my story which gives you a view into my own battle.
That being said, I wish you lots of gentle hugs and bright love to envelop you today. Please feel free to contact me with any thoughts or questions and subscribe so you don’t miss a post.
With love and music,
Lunabug
